9 Books to Cozy Up With This Fall

In today’s post, I’m sharing 9 books to cozy up with this Fall. There are both thrillers and romances in this book roundup.

9 BOOKS TO READ THIS FALL

Beach Read – January writes romance. Augustus writes serious, literary fiction. They’re both experiencing writer’s block. They decide to make a deal that each write a book in the other’s genre. Sparks fly along the way! I may have been the last person to read this, but I loved it. – all the feels!

Lying Next To Me – Adam, Sophie, and their young daughter are spending a weekend away in Hood Canal. While on the water with his daughter, Adam sees Sophie being abducted from their weekend cabin. Helpless to do anything, he watches his wife disappear right before his eyes. While I figured this one out before the end, there were still a few twists. This is a good read if you want a thriller that isn’t too dark/intense.

Her Final Words – Eliza walks into the FBI office and confesses to murder. Then says nothing else. Special Agent Lucy Thorne must travel to Knox Hollow, a small town with a lot of secrets, to investigate this puzzling case. This one was different from some of the other thrillers I’ve read recently, so I really enjoyed the change of pace. A couple of good twists!

First Comes Love – I’m behind on reading Emily Giffin novels, but she has quickly become one of my favorite authors. This is a story about sisters, tragedy, and the choices we make. I don’t want to give away too much, but if you haven’t read this one, it’s definitely worth a read!

The Wife Who Knew Too Much – The first Mrs. Ford has been found dead in her home. The second Mrs. Ford is a former waitress turned very wealthy woman. Connor Ford, the man in the center of it all, seems to have a lot of secrets. Who is telling the truth? Who’s in it for money? And who’s in it for love? I really liked this one because it kept me guessing about what was really going on. It wasn’t too graphic, so it’s a good choice if you want a lighter thriller.

Hideaway – Cate Sullivan comes from a long line of Hollywood royalty. As a child she was abducted, yet escaped and found refuge at Dillon Cooper’s home. Years later, Cate is in danger again and Dillon is back in her life. I really enjoyed this classic Nora Roberts story! I love when Roberts’ books begin with the characters as children and then follows them into adulthood. While this book ended with a happily ever after, it felt like an abrupt ending. I wanted an epilogue!

The Swap – Low Morrison is a teen who always feels a little out of place. She signs up for a pottery class with Freya, and her whole world changes. She feels a strong connection to Freya, someone else who doesn’t fit in. But Freya is complicated, manipulative, and dark. Jamie, a shop owner that is new to the area, also becomes friends with Freya. Their husbands even become fast friends, until one night when things get a little out of control. The ramifications of that night change everything. There were a lot of moving pieces and characters. I was instantly sucked into the story and totally did not expect the ending! One of my favorites on this list.

The Light We Lost – Lucy and Gabe met on a day that was filled with tragedy. Later, they reconnect and begin a relationship. But both have dreams that they don’t want to give up for the other, and Gabe must leave. They stay in contact over the years through engagements, marriage, children, and loss. Finally, they reconnect and are forced to analyze all of the choices they’ve made. Oh my gosh. This book was amazing. The epitome of an epic love story that spans decades. I read this in one day because I couldn’t put it down. My favorite on the list!

What I Know – Della grew up with a monster. She saw what no one else could see in her brother, but ultimately, was too late to stop him. Now, she’s happily married, a high school teacher, and determined not to drown in the guilt of her past. When new student Zoey steps into her classroom, Della senses a familiar darkness. Again, she sees what no one else seems to in Zoey. Della won’t make the same mistake again, and does everything in her power to expose Zoey. But she’s a teacher, Zoey is a student, and Della is crossing all kinds of lines. This one was so good and I did NOT expect the ending! My second favorite on the list.
